October, 2025 - Perimeter Forest achieves Verra Carbon Standard (VCS) for their Painted Forest Project. The project creates GHG offsets and forest health benefits through the purchase and management of 59,846 ha (147,882 acres) of private forest land, located in the District of Algoma near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.
The project avoids GHG emissions that would occur from harvesting the existing forestland. In the project scenario, significant carbon stocks are retained and sequestered through the preservation and continuing growth of the forest, creating substantial net benefits for Ontarians, and providing biodiversity benefits from the conservation and management of the area’s forest ecosystem. The project scenario includes a low level of timber harvesting as part of forest management activities for the purposes of forest health, incidental infrastructure, ecosystem resilience, biodiversity and other conservation objectives.

Detecting Early Signs of Change in Canadian Forests
September, 2025 - Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has just released its summary information on Tesera Systems project "Automated Multivariate Change Detection for Rapid Forest Monitoring". The project created a platform that quickly identifies disturbances in the land, changes in moisture levels, shifts in vegetation cover, and overall changes in forest health.
Automated processing improves the accuracy and consistency of analyzing large amounts of data. Additionally, automated monitoring is more cost-effective over time compared with traditional manual methods. This system can integrate various data sources, including satellite images, and can be customized to meet specific forest health monitoring needs. Automated multivariate change detection promises to improve forest management practices, support proactive conservation efforts, and contribute to the sustainability of Canadian forest ecosystems
