December, 2025 - Tesera is introducing a new collaborative offering, Locally Grounded Forest Carbon (LGFC). The solution combines our High-Resolution Inventory Solutions (HRIS) on-the-ground measurements with Forest Carbon datasets (one of the Planetary Variables from Planet).
This innovation provides a more precise and complete understanding of forest and carbon resources. Initial findings demonstrate a significant increase in local-scale accuracy.
This solution provides clients with quarterly updates on canopy height and cover, above ground live carbon, sourced from optical, radar, passive microwave and LiDAR sensors. By localizing the Planet global dataset with ground measurements, LGFC also enhances accuracy in absolute values (while preserving the original precision in relative values).
November, 2025 - Press Release: Perimeter Forest achieves Verra Registration for the Painted Forest Carbon Project. The project represents a major transition from a legacy of timber extraction to a conservation-focused forest management approach. Future harvest volumes will be reduced to less than 10% of baseline conditions, supported by the Forest Stewardship Council certification achieved in 2024. In addition to mitigating climate change, the project contributes to additional United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including: Life on Land; Clean Water & Sanitation; and Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure.
A cornerstone of the project is its High-Resolution Forest Inventory, developed in partnership with Tesera Systems Inc., a Canadian forest inventory technology company. This “first-of-its-kind” advanced “wall-to-wall” dataset combines LiDAR, multispectral imagery, and permanent ground sample plots to map tree species, volume, and forest structure across every sub-hectare of the property — setting a new benchmark for transparency and precision in forest carbon accounting.
November, 2025 - Tesera's HRIS forest inventory solution is now featured in the Solutions Explorer by the @SolarImpulseFoundation! As the leading search engine for climate innovations, the Solutions Explorer sets the global standard for technical, behavioural, and political solutions.
To address sustainability challenges while enabling economic growth, the Swiss-based Solar Impulse Foundation have identified over 1,000 clean and profitable solutions. The Solar Impulse Foundation has organized these solutions into a search-engine for climate action - the Solutions Explorer - in order to support their implementation at scale.
October, 2025 - Perimeter Forest achieves Verra Carbon Standard (VCS) for their Painted Forest Project. The project creates GHG offsets and forest health benefits through the purchase and management of 59,846 ha (147,882 acres) of private forest land, located in the District of Algoma near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.
The project avoids GHG emissions that would occur from harvesting the existing forestland. In the project scenario, significant carbon stocks are retained and sequestered through the preservation and continuing growth of the forest, creating substantial net benefits for Ontarians, and providing biodiversity benefits from the conservation and management of the area’s forest ecosystem. The project scenario includes a low level of timber harvesting as part of forest management activities for the purposes of forest health, incidental infrastructure, ecosystem resilience, biodiversity and other conservation objectives.
October, 2025 - Tesera Senior Data Scientist, Max Turgeon, showcased developments and trends relating to “The Statistical Frontier in Forestry and Remote Sensing” to students and Faculty members of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Dalhousie University. The presentation highlighted the importance of machine learning and statistics in modern forestry.
October, 2025 - Planet Labs PBC (NYSE:PL) hosts an Investor Day in New York re: their recent IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. The Investor Day program featured sessions led by key leadership, including Will Marshall, Co-Founder and CEO; Charlie Candy, Chief Revenue Officer; Robbie Schingler, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer; and Ashley Johnson, President and Chief Financial Officer.

September, 2025 - Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has just released its summary information on Tesera Systems project "Automated Multivariate Change Detection for Rapid Forest Monitoring". The project created a platform that quickly identifies disturbances in the land, changes in moisture levels, shifts in vegetation cover, and overall changes in forest health.
Automated processing improves the accuracy and consistency of analyzing large amounts of data. Additionally, automated monitoring is more cost-effective over time compared with traditional manual methods. This system can integrate various data sources, including satellite images, and can be customized to meet specific forest health monitoring needs. Automated multivariate change detection promises to improve forest management practices, support proactive conservation efforts, and contribute to the sustainability of Canadian forest ecosystems
September, 2025 - SilviLaser 2025, held in Quebec City, is a key event for showcasing leading applications of laser scanning and related technologies in forest ecosystem assessment and management. At the event, the team at Tesera presented on "The Use and Importance of Airborne LiDAR metrics in High Resolution Forest Inventory Development" highlighting our innovative insights in this field. The event also provide an excellent opportunity to network with other innovative solutions providers.
July, 2025 - Tesera Systems joins the GovAI Coalition, composed of government members from local, state, and federal agencies united in the mission to promote responsible and purposeful AI in the public sector. The GovAI Coalition is lead by the City of San José as the presiding member and organized by the Coalition board.
May, 2025 - The Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) encourages the development and use of statistics and probability. The 2025 SSC Annual Meeting was held in University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon). This event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow statisticians, share innovative research, and explore the engaging sessions and networking opportunities.
