Data Management

Data management is the framework for all GIS projects at Tesera. Meaningful and accurate data analysis can only occur once complete and integrated datasets are in place. The GIS team has years of experience organizing and manipulating the data involved in resource analysis projects. Tesera’s GIS team uses ArcGIS and MS Access in our aggressive approach to data management challenges.

The largest data management project the team has been involved with to date has been in support of the Morice and Lakes TSA Innovative Forest Practices Agreement (IFPA). This multi-year project shows the extent of experience and capabilities encapsulated within Tesera’s GIS department for it involved working with hundreds of spatial inventory data layers. The resulting inventory database contained over 900 spatial data files from a broad range of government and non-government agencies.

Tesera’s GIS team also has extensive experience with data conversion. This skill is necessary given that the source data (spatial and attribute) used in spatial analysis projects is consistently received in varying formats and states of integrity. All data that comes into Tesera is processed to meet government and internal/project specific standards. Our GIS team will perform data research, interpretation and evaluation and then outline a data management strategy to suit the project and client’s objectives.
