Forest Certification and Facilitation Projects

SFM Certification Public Participation Process Facilitation

Description: This project involved Project Management and Public Participation Process Facilitation in support of Ainsworth Engineered Canada LP’s CSA Certification (SFM Z809 – 2002) of their Defined Forest Area in the Lillooet TSA. The Lillooet TSA SFM Plan represents a substantial collaborative initiative among a broad diversity of public participants, government agencies, and forest industry representatives as twenty-one PAG meetings were held in the 2004 calendar year.  Contributed to the authoring of the SFM plan. Ainsworth’s Lillooet Operation received CSA Z809-02 certification in early January 2005. Since 2004, PAG meetings have been held 2 – 3 times per year to review Indicator Monitoring Reports and discuss other implementation topics.

CSA Certification SFM Plan Facilitation

Description: This project focused on the delivery of CSA certification-ready SFM Plans for both the Morice TSA and the Lakes TSA. A wide variety of interest groups were involved in the development of these SFM Plans (including six licensees, managing agencies, First Nations, and local interest groups and communities).  Public Advisory Groups in each TSA identified a wide range of resource objectives and management strategies that were spatially and temporally modeled and analyzed by Tesera Systems. Each IFPA Proponent started to implement monitoring plans for each indicator in April of 2004. A CSA SFM Z809-2002 version of the Morice TSA SFM Plan was completed in October 2003. A CSA SFM Z809-2002 version of the Lakes TSA SFM Plan was completed in March 2006. Tesera Systems staff has been involved in the full scope of the development of these SFM Plans; from facilitating the public participation process, to data collection, data synthesis, scenario design, resource analysis, indicator management, and authoring of the two SFM plans.
